Thankfully the detainees from Long Lartin's Detainee Unit were returned to the facility last night, having spent the past three months in HMP Manchester. 

Some have been detained for over 13 years, without ever being charged or undergoing any trial. They were moved to HMP Manchester in October whilst the Detainee Unit in Long Lartin was being renovated. The transfer was a source of considerable grievance for the families who would have had to endure a six hour journey to the prison. Subsequently most of the prisoners did not receive any visitors in this period.
