In the first instance, I received emotionnal support from Hhugs, which is essential. Since my husband's arrest in 2001, some people distanced themselves from us, fearing problems for themselves. Finding people from Hhugs at such a time gave me hope for myself and the community. My main problem initially, when I met Hhugs, was finding drivers to transport me to the prison regularly while my friend was away. In the beginning of my husband's detention, we could go months without having any visits. Hhugs did their best to contact sisters and brothers so I could visit my husband. Hhugs financial contributions were essential for me; when you are alone and you also have financial problems everything becomes more difficult. Sometimes they helped me to pay my electricity bills, but most the greatest help was their contribution to my children's Islamic school fees, which would have been impossible to manage by myself. I know that I can rely on Hhugs for any aspect of legal advice, contact with solicitors. They always remember us – they send cards to mark the Eid celebration, a gift for the children, warming your heart. I really can say that I found in Hhugs men and women shouldering great responsibilities toward the community. Jazaak Allahu khairan to the team who have made my life easier during this trial of having a loved one detained.
I encourage every Muslim to support Hhugs because their work in the community is essential and very useful. May Allah reward you.
