HHUGS Toubkal Trek

We’ve ventured to the most renowned mountains in the UK – now for the first time HHUGS heads overseas, as we fly to Morocco for our most breathtaking adventure yet: a 4 day-long trek of Mount Toubkal.

Ascend to the roof of North Africa and experience stunning views of the Atlas Mountains and the Saharah Desert. Reaching the summit at 4167m above sea level and taking in the jaw dropping scenery, this exhilarating and rewarding challenge will leave you with an unforgettable feeling – all safe in the knowledge that every pound raised will provide support to families impacted by national security measures in the UK.

Flights, accommodation, English speaking mountain guide, and meals inclusive

We will be leaving on Friday 21st of September and returning on Monday 24th September. The trek will take place at Mount Toubkal in Morocco. At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal is the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains. It is a non-technical summit requiring only a reasonable degree of fitness and determination.

Toubkal (often called Jabal Toubkal) is easily reached from Marrakech and lays at the heart of a network of trekking trails that offer striking high altitude mountain scenery, lush valleys and relatively untouched Berber communities. Toubkal is climbable year round, albeit in winter, from Nov – May, snow settles above 3000m and crampons and ice axes are required.

Flying from the UK… Marrakech has an international airport (RAK) which is serviced by several airlines flying direct from the UK. The flight time is around 3.5hours. On average it takes around an hour to clear airport security and then around 15 – 20 minutes to drive to the Medina or 1 – 1.5 hours to reach the Atlas Mountains.

Here are a few tips:

A great way to start fundraising is to set up an online sponsorship page which you can share with your contacts on FacebookTwitterSMSE-mailWhatsAppTelegram broadcasts etc.

Fundraising pages are just like paper sponsorship forms, except they’re online, so you don’t have to worry about dealing with cash, cheques and chasing sponsors after the event is finished. Or why not create your own fundraising team to help you spread the word!.

To create your page:

visit www.justgiving.com or www.btplc.com or www.charitychoice.co.uk. Click on Make Your Page. Search and select HHUGS. Follow the simple step-by-step instructions. Share it with others easily via email, text,Twitter,Facebook.

  • Why not set up a text code too so that your friends and family can donate towards your walk with a simple SMS! Follow this link for instructions Setting Up Your Text Code. Once you have made your page don’t forget to send us the link by emailing fundraising@hhugs.org.uk· Contact your local mosque or circle to support you by making an announcement of the event and help you to fundraise.

UK tax payers can make their donation go further. The government will give a further 25% of your donation to the charity, and it doesn’t cost you or your sponsors a thing.
