This May 12th, give Ramadhan the best farewell by donating one day’s wage and change lives for the better in the best month to give saqadah.

Every second Wednesday of May, people around the world get together to make a difference by giving up one day of their wage for those less fortunate. As individuals we might underestimate what we can do, but by coming together, we can change lives.

This year, subject to moon sighting, Donate a Day’s Wage Day falls on the 30th and final day of Ramadhan. In the month when the Prophet (saw) was at his most generous, in the very best days to give sadaqah, where 1 deed is rewarded 70 times, there’s no better time to give. And as the Prophet (saw) said, “Actions are according to their endings.” (Bukhari) So however, your Ramadhan has gone, whether you lived up to your best hope or are left feeling disappointed as the days pass, we can all ensure that we still end the month with the best of deeds.

“Whoever has done well during the month thus far, it is incumbent on him to complete the month in a good fashion. Whoever was deficient, should try to end the month in good, for indeed actions are according to their completion. Therefore, take advantage of what remains of the month and give the month the best farewell and peace, with righteous actions that will testify for you before the All-Knowing King.”(Ibn Rajab)

Whilst we’re busy preparing today for Eid with our families today, it’s easy to forget that Eid is not a time of joy or unity for everyone. Eid clothes, gifts and the joy of celebrating together –these are the things all children look forward to at the end of Ramadhan. But children of prisoners have no such hope. Theirs are households where food is scarce and new clothes are a luxury. This Eid, they’ll be looking on with sadness at peers enjoying new outfits and presents. Aa small gift for Eid can remind HHUGS children that they are also cherished. It can bring cheer and a spiritual boost to a family on a day that might otherwise feel lonelier than most. Brighten their faces in this life, He will illuminate yours in the next.

“On Eid they sent us a box of gifts which had little presents and Surayah was so happy, I cannot express what her happiness did for me. She was asking, ‘Who is HHUGS?’ and I said, ‘they are our helpers in Islam.’”

‘Whosoever gave gifts for the sake of Allah… has completed his faith.’ (Al-Hakim)

Wives, children and elderly parents of prisoners will be feeling that isolation more intensely than ever. Your donations today can ensure that families are connected with others who understand what they are experiencing and can offer a salve for those desperate for company.

This May 12th, bid Ramadhan the best farewell by donating one day’s wage!
