Eid Mubarak! Taqabal Allahu minna wa minkum!

May Allah accept your fasting, worship, and generosity from the month of Ramadhan! Ameen

On behalf of our beneficiaries, trustees, staff and volunteers, HHUGS wishes you and your loved ones a joyous and memorable Eid day.

Eid morning is a time like no other. A celebration ordained by our Creator, we’re rewarded for our efforts in the past month, celebrating and connecting with others. Children gather sheepishly awaiting their Eid gifts, whilst mouth-watering aromas fill the home.

But amidst the bustle of celebration, we acknowledge the departure of Ramadhan. We spent the last month, reciting His Book by day, standing shoulder to shoulder praying at night, in sujood calling out to Him, wrapping iftar parcels, and in solitude during the last ten nights seeking Laylatul Qadr.

The days slipped into nights, and nights into weeks and before we knew it, Ramadhan bid us farewell. The peace that encapsulates this month cannot be replicated. Eid is a reminder that we were gifted an opportunity to witness such a month, and we pray it ended with acceptance and forgiveness.

Eid also is a bittersweet moment as we continue to witness the atrocities as they unfold before our very eyes. The reality that we see daily is a reminder of our privileges of being able to embrace our loved ones whilst so many can’t. Our hearts are heavy as we share Eid salutations with each other knowing what the Ummah is going through.

It teaches us to be softer, gentler, and more forgiving with others and ourselves, to be present and grateful for each day Allah bestows us with. When you’re awakened to the reality of the world, gestures of kindness act as a reminder that humanity does exist. Throughout the month, be it in the early hours or the late, you dug deep and helped strangers for His Sake.

Your unwavering support fuels our endeavours to assist those in need, particularly families grappling with adversity and hardship during Ramadan. Your generosity this Ramadan enabled us to raise over £621k to alleviate the burdens of HHUGS families and revel in the blessings of Ramadan and the spirit of Eid.

A special shout-out to our dedicated fundraisers for our Race 2 Jannah Challenge who collectively raised over £145.4k this Ramadan, with the top fundraiser being from Luton. Those who took part found the time even in Ramadhan to compete, raise the bar, and fundraise for HHUGS families during the sacred month. May Allah reward them and accept their efforts, ameen.

Your contributions and dedication not only nourished bodies, but also nurtured spirits and brought solace to homes that yearned for compassion. Ramadhan and Eid serve as reminders of resilience, unity, and everlasting humanity.

“My kids receive a box of goodies they love opening. It lights up their faces. We have also had gift cards which is great because it goes a long way to buying their gift for Eid which is important.

“My family aren’t Muslims so my children crave the whole celebration experience. This is a great way to remind them of what we do and the magnitude of the great day.”

Your support rekindled hope in households, far and near, illuminating hearts and infusing the occasion of Eid with renewed joy.

“You are the only ones who gave me something to cheer me up on Eid day.”

While you’re enjoying Eid today, please don’t forget those who can’t experience that same happiness.

“Eid is not for the one who wears new clothes. Eid is for the one whose obedience rises.” (Ibn Rajab)

You can do this simply by clicking a button. It won’t take too much of your time, but it will have a profound impact. There’s still time to fill a child’s heart with joy.

May you step into Shawwal brimming with rejuvenation and blessings. May Allah grant us all istiqamah after Ramadhan, and the ability to continue upon good for the remainder of the year, ameen. We pray the du’as you prayed long and hard for are accepted, and for you and your loved ones to be forgiven and freed from the fire.  Ameen.
